One Does Not Simply Bypass the Corporate Firewall…

Huh. This isn’t Mordor…

What is a computer Network Firewall? According to Merriam-Webster, it is a: ”computer hardware or software that prevents unauthorized access to private data (as on a company's local area network or intranet) by outside computer users (as of the Internet).” Think of a military base that has barriers surrounding the perimeter that protect against different types of intrusions. The computer network firewall provides a barrier that protects against different methods of attacks.

Perhaps you can find the White Tree here?

The Firewall (through preset or set configurations) protects you by filtering all network traffic coming in and out from the computer network. The computer network traffic consists of many network services - each have a specific role. The tens of thousands of services that are on computer networks today are scrutinized by the firewall through traffic flow control and monitoring. The internet traffic coming into a computer network can be masterfully controlled by the firewall by managing the various sources of data. The firewall is typically physically connected at the entry from the outside or “edge” of a given computer network.

You shall not pass!

Sounds expensive, so why install a firewall? Put simply, the days of protecting a computer network with a virus/malware protection solution are over! The functionality of the firewall previously discussed openly shows the many ways a given computer network can be compromised - especially against ransomware! In today’s world, there are types of threats that are very advanced, targeting a specific type of business (or app) - where standard detection methods fail, this is where a firewall shows its mastery!

A firewall has very similar architecture to a computer and receives new threat definitions daily to protect a computer network against new dangers. The advanced threat can be protected from by the firewall being programmed by a cyber security expert that has analyzed the threat. Today, firewalls are much cheaper and user-friendly with easy to use instructions with interfaces that you can use to protect your small business in the Greater Nashville area. You are your own boss about cybersecurity!!!
