How CCI can prevent malicious attacks on your device

protect from malware

On August 9th, 2024, a client had accidentally clicked on a phishing link that would go on to install a malicious form of ScreenConnect, a widely used remoting software, for the purposes of obtaining sensitive information off of the client’s device. While clicking on phishing links is something that nearly everyone has done at some point before, this particular form can be very damaging due to the bad actor essentially having all of the same accesses as the owner of the device. However, on this occasion, CCI was able to quickly and efficiently cut the threat off at the source, using Huntress as our main platform for threat detection and elimination.

Our Business Operations Director was the first to respond to the alert that there was a critical incident involving a client’s device. Due to her quick reflexes and decisive actions, the client’s device was halted in its’ tracks and the malware removed before anything could be compromised. The actions taken included everything that CCI would typically do in the case of a malware attack, except our process allows for near instantaneous removal and correction of the dangerous components.
