From the CCI News Desk (via Data Breach Today):
Computer & Communications Innovations in the Greater Nashville TN area has published blogs about responsibility and accountability for cyber security from the user perspective which remains always priority ONE! The need for responsibility and accountability for cyber security on the top of the food chain is paramount as the latest revelation could affect millions of devices from over 150 vendors!!!
A cyber security research company has revealed that there are software flaws in over 150 Internet of Things (IoT) vendors’ devices in what is called the TCP/IP Stack. An IoT device is any smart device that connects to the internet and provides as part of a larger system (e.g. Smart Home devices). The TCP/IP Stack is a collection of protocols in a coded package that is available from a variety of vendors to be used in software for any IoT device that will allow it to connect to the internet. Flaws in the TCP/IP Stack can provide an entry point for hackers to exploit the connected devices and gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or launch attacks such as ransomware.
The published report also stated that there are fixes in the works which will be extremely challenging due to a lack of vendor specific flaws. Just another lesson in the connected world: there can be no compromises in cyber security especially keeping your family info from hackers and ransomware.
